Clay Chimney Lining A Chimney?

Lining a Chimney? - clay chimney

I installed a wood stove and need to know whether the needs of the lining of the chimney. The chimney or at least a part of it is covered with clay and two thirds is one exposed to the rooms occupied the upper third to the outside. We have a basket of fire in the last five years, have no leaks. Most websites recommend along the pan to prevent the accumulation of tar, the bar, but there is absolutely no need for the border.

Has anyone any experience with this situation?

Much depends on the size of the fireplace and the wood quality is to burn. A really big chimney liner to warm all the way to what is not allowed to condense tar. If the wood is wet or green, there are also a lot more tar than if its seasoned and dry.
As you probably saw the chimney sweep and knows whereof he speaks, then I'll go with his advice.
